Meaningful connections. The Counseling & Testing Center invites the Andrews University community to celebrate World Kindness Day on Friday, November 13. Together, we can make our campus a place where people feel seen, valued, and supported. Kindness does not have to be a grand gesture. Taking a moment to listen, offering encouragement, or including someone new can make a meaningful difference. We may not always know what another person is going through, but we can choose to meet them with patience and compassion. Celebrate by putting kindness into action: <ul data-spread="false"> <li> Check in on a friend or classmate and take time to listen. </li> <li> Share a thoughtful note or word of encouragement. </li> <li> Invite someone sitting alone to join you. </li> <li> Thank someone whose efforts often go unnoticed. </li> <li> Offer a helping hand without expecting anything in return. </li> <li> Extend kindness to yourself by making time for rest and speaking to yourself with compassion. </li> </ul> Let November 13 be a reminder to carry kindness into our everyday interactions. It was impossible that Joseph would forgive his brothers after they sold him to Egypt. Faith communities often play a key role in recognizing warning signs and offering guidance. By fostering open conversations about mental health, faith communities can create a compassionate environment where individuals feel safe to seek help. Soul Shop is a training specific for faith communities to help start the conversation about suicidal desperation, respond with support and help facilitate connections to maintain safety. This training is seven hours and registration costs include a participant manual and supplementary materials of community resources. Lunch will be provided.
